Applying for Graduate School

So you are interested in graduate school?  Here are some general guidelines as well as resources that can help prepare you to meet your academic goals.

You need to have a clear idea of what you want to study or accomplish as you apply.  From a graduate school’s perspective, a typical student has had at least four years of undergraduate study, not to mention high school, to determine what carrier he or she wants to enter.  For many students that enter graduate programs like medical, dental, or law school, such degrees will be the final formal degree.  The more you can show a graduate program that you have made a firm decision about your carrier path, the stronger applicant you will be.  This involves a great deal of preparation. Not only do you need to make a firm decision about your future academic program, you need to make it early.  The earlier you decide your career path the more time you will have to prepare to be a successful candidate.
