Invitation Procedures -
BYU Chapter of The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi
Faculty
The dean of each college may nominate one faculty member per year to be invited to join the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.
Graduate Students
The number of graduate students in each department who can be nominated for membership in Phi Kappa Phi can be based either on the number of graduate students who actually graduated the previous year or on the number who will graduate during the current year. Each department chair may nominate a number of students equal to 10 percent of either of these numbers.
Undergraduate Students
Nomination of undergraduate students is based on several criteria. Each student must have:
1. Completed at least 32 credits at BYU,
2. Been cleared by the honor code office,
3. Been recommended by their department chair, and
4. Maintained a grade point average that places him or her in the top 5% of their class within their college if they have completed credits in the range of 80-95 or a grade point average that places him or her in the top 10% of their class within their college if they have completed 96 or more credits.
NOTE: These grade point average requirements vary somewhat from college to college.
